There are daily scheduled flights from Nairobi to Kisumu (it is preferable to take a morning flight, approximately 40 minutes) then a taxi transfer by road to Mbita (approximately 3 hours). Finally, either a speedboat ride (approximately 40 minutes) or waterbus rides (approximately 2 hours) to Wakula beach on Mfangano island. The final waterbus departs promptly at 16:00hrs, daily.
Scheduled flights are also available from Wilson Airport to Homa Bay (1 hour) followed by a 35-minute drive them speedboat ride or waterbus to Kisuri Resort.
Chartered flights are available from Wilson Airport to Rusinga Island (1 hour) followed by a speedboat ride (approximately 40 minutes) to Kisuri Resort.
Drive or take a bus to Mbita on Lake Victoria (approximately 6 hours from Nairobi), followed by a hired speedboat ride (approximately 40 minutes). There are also scheduled waterbus services to the island (approximately 2 hours). The final waterbus departs promptly at 16:00hrs, daily.
